Intercorp WordPress Theme
Ported from Solucija by HostSeeq Designer, Intercorp is a two column, fluid width theme with support for Ajax Comments and Flickr RSS Plugin. The main sidebar is on the left and there is an extra footer bar positioned at the bottom of the blog.
On top we have a left aligned static header. Infact we have two headers, the second one further down with the routine blog name and description texts. The header is plain without any graphic effects.
On the right of the header we have our horizontal navigation bar. The items in the nav bar are separated with thin engraved vertical lines. I thought it was a plain line but when I hovered over one of the links, I noticed the engraved line to the right of that particular item getting filled with color yellow slowly from bottom to top, generating an animated effect - a nice example of style sheeting.
Coming further down we have the second header and the search box. A unique blend of green and blue colours, along with a matching stock image gives the theme a very sleek look.
Next we have the sidebar on the left and content items to the right. All live links in this theme are “style sheeted” to have a very light blueish background colour (with the exception of recent comments in the sidebar where the background colour is light green). Normally designers don’t go for background colours for links; they use fancy hover effects like colour change or underlining. But changes are always welcome. The post meta details are displayed in a grey coloured box right below every post. It also works as a very visible post separator.
The same grey boxes are used in sidebars to separate sidebar items. One thing I noticed on every box is a corner cut on the bottom right. It doesn’t elevate the design in any way but still it cannot be ignored.
On the footer we have a four column footer bar allocated for archives, categories, blog roll and meta. Designed in the classic white-on-black pattern, it does look beautiful.
On the whole it is a very good port from Solucija. I can’t help but appreciate the original designer’s colour sense. And when it gets ported to WordPress, it becomes a boon to thousands of bloggers. Thank you, HostSeeq.
